Family Photography

Oh, hello!

I’m so glad you’re here, considering having family photographs taken. No matter what stage your family is at - newborn baby, toddlers, teens, adult children - it’s always a great time to have family photos taken.

Family photos should be full of fun and laughter and that’s exactly what we do here. Your location of the shoot can be in my studio, your home, the beach, park… wherever you like really! So if you want that smooth, grey backdrop, we can do that. And if you want the kids running free through a field we can do that too.

How it Works

Before

First thing’s first: Get in touch! Send me an email and we’ll schedule a time and place to take your family photos. Tell me where you’ll be happiest - in your home, my studio, the beach, wherever. Your deposit is due at this point.

Start thinking about what you want the end product to be and, if I can make one request, consider something other than digital files. These are great but USB pens will not live forever, hard drives fail, and photos don’t want to live forever on the cloud. They want to be admired, cherished, displayed. Look at your walls and start to imagine where a beautiful family portrait might hang.

I’ll send you helpful advice on what to wear so you won’t be left trying to figure that out alone and you won’t have to buy everyone a whole new wardrobe… unless you want to of course!

During

You’ve arrived at our pre-agreed destination at the chosen time, now what?

Now for the fun! Now you get to relax and leave everything to me. I’ll work with everyone to get real smiles and genuine joy. We’ll play games and find the perfect balance of gorgeous poses and natural beauty.

The session will take around 45 minutes to an hour (or up to 3hrs for a newborn shoot.) If you want to add on professional hair & makeup for anyone beforehand, that can be arranged and takes another hour per person usually. Session fee is paid before or on your shoot date.

After

Two weeks after your shoot we’ll either meet up in person or you’ll be sent an online gallery link to view and select your favourite images.

This stage is much easier if you already have an idea of what you would like to get - an album or 5 small frames in a gallery for the kitchen maybe.

I’m on hand to give advice and then I’ll get designing and ordering. I’ll let you know what the current processing and shipping times are with the lab. Any additional payment for chosen products is then due when you place this order.

“ Over the moon with our photos! Rachel is such a talented photographer and was great with our baby and toddler. Some amazing moments captured, can’t wait to get them on the wall xx ”

About Us

Rachel has been a professional photographer for over 15 years.

She brings fun and laughter to every job and deeply cares about the wellbeing of each child. With three children of her own she knows the impact a positive photo experience can have on self-esteem, especially when that photo is then displayed on the wall!

Her favourite methods for getting real smiles is The Sausages Game or telling the child that they MUST. NOT. SMILE. The real trick is quickly figuring out which child will respond to which game!

Vicki was a Primary School teacher for 18 years. She is now taking a break from this to be a carer for her daughters and part-time assistant/ organiser extraordinaire for Rachel.

She brings kind, calm organisation to every task and balances Rachel’s nonsense perfectly. Vicki will make sure invoices are sent, backdrops are ordered and keep everything running smoothly.

Vicki hates the pressure of taking behind the scenes photos and she’s not a fan of the coffee machine but she’s got good chat and is a cracking tidyupper.

“ We went to Rachel for a newborn shoot and she was brilliant. Not only did she make us feel welcome and at ease with our newborn but she also made our little boy feel welcome and at ease with toys and letting him “help” take pictures.

The shoot was really relaxed and we felt no pressure to get things done quickly. Thanks Rachel ”
